Leadership Development

Associational Emphasis Week

____________

Saturday:  Leadership Development

“For this thing is too much for you; you are not able to perform by yourself” (Exodus 18:18).

The NBA Leadership Development Team exists to strengthen church ministries by developing effective ministry leaders. We do this by:

  • Conducting an annual Regional Sunday School Leadership conference.
  • Providing leadership development events for pastors, church staff, and ministry leaders.
  • On-site evaluation of ministry programming, organization, and facilities.
  • Providing leadership and ministry resources for church leaders.
  • Working in cooperation with the Revitalization Team to provide leadership development assistance to churches involved in a revitalization process.

____________

How You Can Pray:

  1. Pray that God will continue to raise up leaders to assist sister NBA churches.
  2. Pray that we can train more church leaders so they can be more effective in their church ministries.

We are ready to help you with your personal and church leadership development opportunities. Contact Jack Carver at jcarver@nashvillebaptists.com.

Twenty years ago, the NBA WMU Team built a community of believers who took a personal stake in the development of the most disadvantaged neighbors living in East Nashville. Today, this community is known as Begin Anew, a nonprofit ministry with seven program sites in Williamson and Davidson County. Begin Anew “empowers individuals to overcome the obstacles caused by poverty by providing education, mentoring and resources.” Women, men, and their children find spiritual transformation and gain skills to dramatically change their circumstances and their lives.

Wednesday: Church Revitalization

The stats are in, and the diagnosis is not great. It's currently estimated that as many as 90% of the churches associating with the Nashville Baptist Association are plateaued or in decline. Many of our churches find themselves in need of assistance, and it's our desire to be used of God to help bring these churches back to vitality.

____________

Tuesday:  Church Planting

Nashville is one of the most vibrant and progressive cities in the South. The greater Nashville area is home to approximately 1.8 million people and grows by an average of 100 people per day. If you look around, you can see evidence of Nashville’s growth everywhere. However, our city is approximately 75% unchurched. If you do the math, that means that as many as 1.35 million people in Nashville do not have a relationship with Christ. This is why we remain committed to planting new churches throughout our city.

____________

How You Can Pray:

  1. Pray that God would continue to raise up church planters who feel called to Nashville.
  2. Pray that established churches would come alongside new plants, providing encouragement, help, and resources
  3. Pray for church planters to be called to the areas and people groups of Nashville that are most in need of new churches.

Monday:  Language Churches

The world is in Nashville.

Did you know there are more than 300,000 people in Nashville whose native language is NOT English? These people represent more than 95 distinct people groups that speak more than 140 different languages.

One of our top goals as an association is to be a catalyst in reaching the peoples of Nashville. At the last annual meeting, five new ethnic churches joined the NBA. This brings the total of number of language churches associating with the NBA to 37.

We're seeking to promote new works among the people groups of Nashville by:

  • Helping language churches find spaces to gather.
  • Equipping the language churches to reach their people through evangelism and home groups.
  • Seeking to discover new pockets of people that have relocated to Nashville.
  • Equipping Anglo churches to discover and minister to the people groups who live around them.
  • Forming a Nolensville Immigrant Corridor Gathering to bring together the various churches and organizations ministering to the nations in Nashville.
  • Encouraging volunteers to work with our ethnic churches.

____________

How you can pray:

  1. Pray that God would bless the efforts of all those seeking to minister to the peoples of Nashville.
  2. Pray that the NBA would continue to develop practical strategies for reaching people from other nations.
  3. Pray that God would send laborers into the harvest field.
  4. Pray that more churches might open their doors and allow language to meet in their facilities.
